As a kid Depp played the guitar in garage bands. He played for a band called "The Kids" which changed into "Six Guns Method". Depp married his make-up artist and sister of mand'd drummer, Lori Anne Allison. He divorced Lori in 1985.

Depp got his first major break with the horror movie A Nightmare on Elm Street. He then featured in movies like Private Resort, Platoon and left his teen icon image with movies like Edward scissorhands, which was a huge success that lead to his appearance in more films like Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate factory and Corpse Bride.
His role as pirate Captain Jack Sparrow in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, won him appluad from allover. His character won him an Academy Award Nomination. He also won an Oscar Nomination for his role in Finding Neverlands.
Depp topped the list of Beast signers of 10 Best Signers of Autograph Collector Magazine. He is a keen musician and is a fan of Rolling Stones.
Johnny Depp is said to have rejected the lead roles of Interview With The Vampire, Speed, The Matrix and Titanic. He is good friends with Flea, the bassist and John Frusciante, the guitrist of Red Hot Chilly Peppers.
